I think I first got properly pulled into ambient music through Selected Ambient Works Volume II by Aphex Twin. I listened to it endlessly as a teenager, and for a while I was convinced it changed my DNA.
Even when I was playing in math rock bands, I’d always try to sneak ambient outros into the tracks. Ambient’s stayed with me all this time. It’s probably the form of music I’ve spent the most time with - listening, collecting, absorbing.
With Ambient 10 - music for lakes, I’m starting an hourly monthly residency where I share the ambient works that matter to me - new pieces and older recordings that still have that vitality.
